The Orkin Insect Safari

After one hundred years in the insect control business, Orkin wanted to celebrate their 100TH anniversary with a marketing campaign that would give something back to their customers.

Flying Rhinoceros partnered Orkin with the Smithsonian Institution to design & create the “Smithsonian O. Orkin Insect Safari.” Insect Safari was a traveling insect exhibit housed in a converted semi-truck that visited schools & museums across America.

The Insect Safari shattered all projections. Over 150,000 visitors toured the exhibit & the program generated over $2 million in ad equivalencies in 2001 through more than 500 media hits. In addition, Orkin reported a significant increase in leads for local operators following Insect Safari visits. Orkin called it the most efficient marketing campaign they’d ever run.
